Pardot Opportunities need Contact Roles to sync

Think Marketing Data Sharing Rules are bullying you on Opportunity alone?
Like, all of your sharing rules work, except for Opportunity?
Psst – it’s probably your Opportunity Contact Roles.
Or, to be more specific: Your lack thereof.
If your Opportunities are “children” of “Contact” records through a Lookup(Contact)-typed custom field on Opportunity, that’s not good enough for Pardot.
You also need to insert records into Opportunity Contact Role to link the Opportunity to the Contact (preferably with the “primary” bit flipped on).
Not that I spent weeks trying to debug why Marketing Data Sharing Criteria had no impact on Opportunity … *ahem*.
